Lockwood Immersive Blog: June 2026

It’s been a very busy summer, hasn’t it? Whether it’s solving crossword puzzles at a backyard barbeque, decrypting the faded signage at your local campground, or simply escaping into the pool, there’s wonderful, puzzleful summer fun to be had everywhere you go!

Updates

In July we still tweaked and fussed with Shades of Grey as its first few weeks in the world brought us vital player data. While some of it addressed points that needed some love, we’re happy that Shades has received some very positive feedback thus far in its short run!

Reviews for Shades on our Google page have been cropping up, as well as on escape room index site Morty. We’ve been really touched by all the kind words players have shared about their experiences! And as a small team, it really makes a difference - we hope we can keep impressing our audience with each new project!

We even had some special guests visit us in July. We were very excited to host a game for Katrina Lat (No Proscenium) and Matthew Stein (Room Escape Artist), so keep an eye out for their reviews! And later in the month we were visited by Adrian Hon (Perplex City) and Robin Ward (Evil Trout), two guys who really know their games! Adrian even shared some notes about his experience on his Bluesky account.

The trenchcoats really suit these two, don't you think?

A teaser photo for the upcoming "Incident at Lockwood Immersive"?

Besides that, we’ve managed some other private contracts, continued developing work for a partnership and August, and took The Hunt for the Brightwing Butterfly out for a private test drive, in preparation for another flight that may or may not be happening soon…

We can't reveal many details about some of our contracts. But these players sure enjoyed working out these famous landmark photos!

Jesse is always happy to take up his pith helmet and net, though it turns out there are a lot of Pokemon Go players in the park who want to battle his Bug-type Pokemon.

Extracurriculars

Jesse joined escape room friends Katrina and Matt for a trip to Mississauga to check out Gaslight Theatre, an escape room with some rather unique offerings. The Storm features a twisting, turning mystery story involving amnesia, infidelity, and (of course) murder. Set in a single condo building with a naturalistic set, the game really revolves around focusing on the characters and clues hidden in the environment to untangle the solution, with a neat deduction section taking place at the adventure’s climax - a little like Shades of Grey at some points!

Their other room, The Hunt, was heavily inspired by the iconic Rusty Lake digital escape room games, with surreal, animal-headed characters, bizarre and gory surprises, and ratcheting tension until the last moment.

The pigeons. Have. Secrets.

We were also really taken with this month’s Puzzled Pint set - we go nearly every month, so we don’t always write about it here, but the Gulliver’s Travels puzzle suite designed by Michael Clark and Bryony McMillan is worth a look!

Friend of Lockwood Mai brought a nifty 3D camera to Puzzled Pint! Not pictured - us bashing our heads over this month's meta.

Finally, in order to blow off a little steam (see what we did there?), we logged some hours in Escape Simulator 2. The rooms are wonderfully cheesy, the level of fidelity and control is seriously impressive, and there’s a burgeoning creator scene of folks designing their own levels for the game. If you’re ever looking to take your escape room experience to the couch, you should give it a try.

Recommendations

Jesse recommends Jesse recommends Lost & Found: This month I tried the new experience from our friends at Secret City - Lost & Found, an open-world adventure in the spirit of games like Phantom Peak (or, indeed, FLUX). Romping around the village, talking to the wacky characters, and solving puzzles along the way brought a smile to my face for the entire afternoon.

The game is designed for a general audience, so I went back later to try the challenging Enigmatologist puzzle track, which had some very exciting moments that put our solving skills to the test!

Bryan recommends Rollerdrome: For me this month I didn’t really get out the house much, so I’m recommending Rollerdrome which was originally a GMTK game-jam creation turned full release. It’s a fast paced Tony-hawk-like with guns on rollerskates.

Your goal is to destroy all enemies in each arena while doing impossible stunt flips as fast you can. It’s a high octane arcade experience that holds a place in my favourites list, and I guarantee if you try it you’ll be hooked too.
